Market4Demand Marketing Educational Series for Entrepreneurs, June 27, 2006

Outlook Ventures hosted its portfolio companies' executives at a Marketing Roundtable
on September 7, 2005. The objective of the Marketing Roundtable was to facilitate
sharing of best practices among portfolio companies.
Meeting of the Minds, June 14th 2005
On June 14th 2005, over 160 CEO-level entrepreneurs and other prominent
guests joined the Outlook Team for the semi-annual Meeting of the
Minds (MoM). The event was held at Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood
City and was highlighted by a panel discussion moderated by Cindy
Padnos on the topic: "Getting the Business Model Right". Our panelists
included Peter Thiel, (Founder/Chairman, CEO of PayPal, now Chairman
of Clarium), David Alberga (Founder/CEO, The Active Network), Reid
Hoffman (Founder/Chairman, CEO of LinkedIn) and Gunjan Sinha (Chairman
of MetricStream, former CEO/Founder of eGain and WhoWhere). The
speakers shared their experiences on adapting business models based
on changing times and markets and discussed their perspectives on
what kinds of business models it will take for a startup, be it
consumer or enterprise focused, to be successful today.
Meeting of the Minds, October 20th 2004
On October 20th 2004, over 120 CEO-level entrepreneurs and other
prominent guests joined the Outlook Team for the semi-annual Meeting
of the Minds (MoM). The event was held at Pacific Athletic Club
in Redwood City and was highlighted by a panel discussion moderated
by Carl Nichols on the topic: "Paving a Path to Liquidity". Our
panelists included Ramneek Bhasin, founder of Vialto (acquired by
Cisco), Kenn Guernsey, Managing Partner of the law firm Cooley Godward,
Clay Corbus, CEO of WR Hambrecht and Co (pioneered the platform
behind the recent Google IPO auction), Jerry Newman, Bear Stearns
(30 year veteran of over 300 M&A and IPO transactions) and Paul
Crisci, Managing Director, Broadview's Silicon Valley office. Panelists
discussed how startups could position themselves for either M&A
or IPO, the challenges they face going through the process and how
they choose between exit options.
Software 2004 Conference
Outlook Ventures, along with five-time CEO, Don Massaro, presented
a workshop at the San Francisco-based Software 2004 conference,
sponsored by the Sand Hill Group. With over 1200 attendees, the
conference attracted many start-up CEOs along with their management
teams, corporate software executives and investors. Outlook's presentation,"
Solving Problems with Teams" presented a simple way to organize
the group process of identifying problems, breaking them into manageable
steps and leading a start-up team through the analysis, brainstorming
and implementation of solutions.

guests joined the Outlook Team for the semi-annual Meeting of the
Minds (MoM). The event was held at Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood
City and was highlighted by a panel discussion moderated by Randy
Haykin on the topic: "Getting the Most out Of Your Series A Investment."
Our panelists included Mark Goldstein (former CEO of ImpulseBuy
Network, CEO of Bluelight.com, and currently CEO of InStorecard),
Karl Jacob (Co-Founder Keen.com and current CEO of CloudMark) and
Chris Risley (former CEO of ON Technology, CEO of NewChannel, and
current CEO of Nominum). The speakers shared their approaches, strategies
and lessons learned taking a company through a successful Series
A investment and beyond. David Cowan, Managing Partner at Bessemer
Venture Partners, who has funded many Series A and has several times
incubated and co-founded companies (e.g., Verisign, Visto) joined
the panel as well.
