Backgrounder: George began his career at Documentum in 1993, as manager of information technology (IT). Today he leads the company's worldwide IT organization, which serves approximately 1,000 Documentum employees throughout the globe and helps to support the company's Global 2000 customers. Having held several strategic roles at Documentum, Lin has keen insight into the workings of the organization, its processes and culture, and adds an exceptional balance of management experience and technical expertise.
Lin has been instrumental in helping to build the company from a small start-up to the market leader in enterprise content management. Over the course of his nine years at Documentum, Lin has served in a number of key roles, including driving strategic direction, revenue opportunities, managing vendor relationships and overseeing the company's global facilities, as well as its IT infrastructure. Lin has also been responsible for closely aligning Documentum's use of technology with the company's business goals and processes. These changes have greatly improved staff productivity, significantly reduced IT costs and have helped to ensure the company's continued revenue growth and profitability.
For his exceptional IT leadership, Lin was selected as a Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader for 2003. He is frequently quoted in IT publications for his trend-setting views and strategies on IT. Also, he has been invited by a leading publisher of business and technology books and is currently co-authoring two books on the intersection of business management and technology. Anticipated publication date for the first book is mid 2003.
