Lasso Logic offers continuous data protection solutions
that reduce downtime after failure from hours or days
to minutes. Lasso offers reliable, zero-touch, hassle-free
backup solutions that provide enterprise-level data
protection at affordable prices. Lasso Logic’s
flagship product, Lasso CDP, protects against data loss
resulting from events such as user error, hardware failure,
virus corruption and theft. Lasso CDP includes local
and off-site backup, file sharing, unlimited versions,
instant recovery features and remote administration
for desktops, mobile PCs and servers.
Lasso Logic delivers on site and off site backup. Lasso
CDP utilizes a two-step backup architecture to protect
against data disasters large and small. First, data
is replicated in real-time and maintained on site to
enable for instant and easy data recovery. Data is then
replicated off-site to a secure data center to protect
business data from fire, theft, computer viruses and
other disasters. Lasso CDP supports Microsoft Exchange,
SQL Server, ACT!, Goldmine, QuickBooks, Peachtree, Outlook
and Outlook Express as well as most other industry specific
applications. It also supports databases such as Microsoft
Access, DBASE, and MYSQL. Continuous data protection,
even when users are on their laptops working remotely.
Remote access features is included for travelers and
telecommuters, providing instant and secure access to
data through any Internet-enabled device.
The company is located in San Francisco and has a shipping
product, and several early stage customers and resellers.
The Lasso Logic team consists of 20 people including
CEO Steve Goodman who co-founded the company along with
Salvatore Sferlazza. The Series A investment was done
in early July and was co-funded with a group of angel
investors. This funding was used to build out the team,
expand the initial customer base and deliver the next
version of the product.
The company was in the process of raising a Series B
round in November when it received a compelling all-cash
acquisition bid from SonicWALL,
a leading provider of security, mobility and productivity
solutions. Lasso Logic accepted the bid on November
22 which resulted in a strong return to Outlook Ventures
The acquisition is very synergistic, as both companies
focus on the SMB space and sell through indirect reseller
and system integrator channels. Under the terms of the
deal, Lasso Logic’s employees will remain in their
San Francisco offices.

Networks adds a new level of intelligence to network
security. The company's products will radically change
the way companies protect themselves from both internal
and external threats. Based on patent-pending causality
and distributed event analysis technology, GraniteEdge
ESP, allows companies to detect all types of threats,
including insider and "zero day" breaches,
worms and trojans, as well as the most subtle network
attacks.
As the industry's first solution to offer causality
analysis, GraniteEdge ESP takes today's security analytics
to a new level, adding intelligence to the seemingly
random stream of network and security data. GraniteEdge
ESP detects all types of threats, including insider
and "zero day" breaches, worms and trojans
as well as the most subtle network attacks.

product, and several early customers. The GraniteEdge
team consists of 20 people including CEO Tony Naughtin
who recently joined from Internap. Tony has a strong
background in leading startups in the security space
from early stage to IPO. He has a track record of successfully
selling to Fortune 1000 IT organizations. Ken Hines
and Ross Ortega, the Co-Founders, have strong technical
background and have started a business together in the
past. This Series A investment has been co-funded with
OVP
and Acartha Group. Funding will be used to build out
the team, expand the initial customer base and deliver
next version of the product.

ClairMail

and use complex applications. ClairMail’s customers

and customers to get what they need easily and quickly.
ClairMail enables 1-click access to business applications
and web-based applications from any mobile or desktop
device. Delivered as a packaged appliance or hosted
solution, ClairMail is a robust and scaleable transactional
messaging system that enables organizations to mobilize
applications without requiring any changes to applications.
It accepts messages from authentic users and acts on
their behalf, enabling directed application access via
messaging for both wired and wireless users. ClairMail
crosses all messaging platforms – email, SMS,
IM - and through a “trusted path” is able
to access information from any internal application
and external source – combining information from
multiple sources into one request back to the user.
This is all done without a new client or modifications
to existing applications.

software space. He has a track record of building innovative
solutions to tough problems. The team includes strong
and proven executives in sales, product management and
engineering roles. This Series A investment has been
co-funded with Norwest
Venture Partners. Funding will be used to build
out the team, expand the initial customer base, and
deliver the next version of the product.
